Robert Mills Gagne's Conditions Of Learning

Robert Mills Gagne was an American educator credited for developing many learning theories still used today in both classrooms and in our military.

In "Conditions of Learning" Gagne provides tools to assist the educator in the process the learner goes through and how to assist the student

Gagne discusses the 8 Phases A Learner Goes Through But Is Unaware Of:
  1. Motivation Phase
  2. Apprehending Phase
  3. Acquistition Phase
  4. Retention Phase
  5. Recall Phase
  6. Generarlization Phase
  7. Performance Phase
  8. Feedback Phase  


 Gagne also describes the 5 Categories of Learning:
  1. Verbal Information
  2. Intellectual Skills
  3. Cognitive Strategies
  4. Attitudes
  5. Motor Skills
Along with "The Conditions Of Learning" Gagne had many of his other theories published in "Principles of Instructional Design", and second and third editions of "The Conditions Of Learning".
